Shipped off yesterday...

The following items are now enroute to their rightful owners:

This is for Maverick...Ohio's Littlest Farmer:).

"Baby" Blankie...um...for a friend. It is only 36" x 36", so it is more of a couch back decoration, but should work nicely with the porcelain eagle collection.

This is the back:).

This is for a precious newborn baby girl:).

This is for my Mom, Betty, for Mother's Day:).

And...this is what I look like this morning...

Quilter's Eye Candy~

I just entered to win this gorgeous quilt top! If I do win it, I will hang it in my black, red, and brown living room:).

On the first day of every month I get an email from a wonderful lady who actually lives not too far from where I grew up. She reminds me to come see her latest creations and to enter her monthly contest for a FREE QUILT TOP. While any quilt would be a major score to a quilt lover, Linda's contest is different from any I have seen. She lets you pick the top you would like to win from all of the ones she has made. There is an amazing array of choices. Linda loves to piece quilt tops and it is evident after even the smallest peek at her site. Go check out her lovelies! You will be glad that you did. Quilters honor:).

Darling little Quilt Give-A-Way!

Julie is giving away this darling little quilt in honor of her 68th post and/or Spring:). She made too many blocks for the OC Mystery quilt and did what comes naturally to us quilters: She made a quilt out of them. I love this little darling:

Isn't it just delicious? It measures just 14" x 20" inches. To enter in the drawing simply leave a comment at this post on her blog. Good luck~

My first quilt to get quilted~

A year or so ago, I belonged (briefly) to an online quilt group and participated in a Blue Nickles Swap. I made a gorgeous blue quilt top and gave it to a friend. The memory of the group experience left a sour knot in the pit of my stomach and Rhonda was head-over-heels into blue and in a deep depression. I sent her some love in the form of that top. She got it quilted and sent me these pics today:
Clicking on the image will get you a bigger version:).

Happy & Scrappy Quilt

So, what do you think? Is it fate or what? This gorgeous quilt is called "Happy & Scrappy Quilt"! I am not sure, but I think it is a sign that perhaps I should make one. I found it here. As I looked around the site I learned that they offer incredibly affordable online quilting classes. In fact the class for this beauty is only $21.50!

Here is the link info they provide on their "Link 2 Us" Page:
Quilting Weekly
Quilting Weekly offers both free and paid quilting classes for beginners to experts. Join today and get the most out of your quilting!

If you go check them out, be sure to tell them that Phyl sent you. I am not affiliated professionally with them, but you know me...networking is vital:). In fact, I have offered to make graphics for them to use that will allow bloggers to link to them from their side bar.

Ohhhhhhh Nooooooo...

Okay...someone has gone and done it! They have blended my two favorite non-family or sweetheart passions. Are you kidding me? The name of the site is Quilter's Coffee-'nuff said:). They even have my very favorite coffee: Guatemalan Antigua. There are blends called Tumbling Blocks Mocha Java, Pinwheel Espresso, Ocean Waves Blend, Morning Star Blend, Log Cabin Blend, Friendship Star Blend, Flying Geese Blend, Double Pinwheel Espresso, Bears Paw French Roast! AND....you can get them as beans or ground coffee. To get some for yourself, just click on their yummy picture:).

I would stay and continue to drool, but I have to go share this news with Bonnie! Hey, is that an Ohio Star on the bag??? It is a conspiracy, I tell ya~

Today I am grateful that I was able to make something fun~

This is what I did today:). Yes, I know I am stuck on Nemo...lol. I am in my second childhood and I am loving it. (The first one sucked.)
This one is roughly 16" x 16" before handles...has a Dorie-blue lining and orange polka dot pocket:). I used fusible fleece to make it sturdy and then got brave and did some free motion quilting. I wasn't crazy about this pattern when I saw it, but now that it's done I am a happy camper~

And look...it is NOT 3 a.m.! It's only 2:20 a.m. Today I am grateful that I can make things!

I found Nemo!

I made this darlin~ lil bag last night. Don't let it's cuteness fool you...by 3 a.m., I had affectionately named it the 'bag from h-e-double toothpicks'!

Only after sewing in the lining did I realize the handles were sewn wrong...so I ripped it out. Then, I re-sewed the lining back in- inside out! So Nemo is a little shorter than intended because I refused to frog(rippit) again. I CUT it down! S-h-h-h-h...

Good news is that it's done and I adore it!

Today I am grateful that Nemo didn't ultimately cause me a trip to the psych ward:).

All fabric from stash. Here are Nemo's innards...sorry couldn't resist...

Fabric Diet 2008

Last night as I was moving mountains of fabric from the dining room(where I sew) to the basement(where the fabric is supposed to be kept)I realized that I need to do something besides move this stuff all the time!

The above button is from Hanne's blog. It is free to take because in her words, "the more stash users the merrier!!"

Here is the code for you to copy & paste where ever you want it to show up:). It is linked to Hanne's blog.

I am making a slew of purses and then I am gonna give tons of fabric away. Do you get tired of using the same fabric over and over? I need to deplete my supply so I can justify replenishing...lol.

In stitches,

Labels for Carolina Crossroads & Bargello Bowl

As many of you know I am a moderator for a wonderful yahoo group. These are the labels I made since most members wished to have us use matching labels...for the sake of posterity, of course.

There has been much discussion as to the conversations that quilt historians will have upon finding many many quilts of the same design yet in different color ways. The labels are to help them catalog us:).

Click on the picture to bring up the full-sized image. Right click on it and save it to your computer.

Happy quilting~

I absolutely LOVE this!

Simply Quilts Notable Quote

Best of Yahoo Groups~

This is the email I sent to: "best_of_groups@yahoogroups.com" ,

date: Jan 13, 2008 11:20 AM

I think the Quiltville Chat is the absolute best of Yahoo Groups. This group was started out of necessity and grew like wildfire.

Bonnie Hunter, of quiltville.com, teased her blog readers with a sneak peek at her latest quilting adventure on 11/29/2007. A few days later one of her readers offered to sew along. The rest, shall we say, is history!

By 12/03/2007, Bonnie found it necessary to form a Yahoo Group to better facilitate communication between herself and the many people who were now sewing along with her. She named the quilt and the Mystery Carolina Crossroads as a tribute to where her life is right now-in limbo as she is moving from South Carolina to North Carolina.

In order to manage the masses, Bonnie enlisted the help of two of her fellow quilters. One would manage photos and the other files. Membership grew rapidly and in just two weeks, it was announced that membership had reached a momentous 1,000 avid quilters! Today, as I write this there are 1,192 members.

Yahoo Groups enables us to stay in touch with our fearless leader and each other. Members ask questions, share tips, encourage each other, share trials and triumphs, and befriend other quilters from all over the world. The web tools enable us to share photos of our progress and links to our blogs, keep a record of where everyone is from and make files available for general information and printing.

Bonnie is what makes this group special. Her willingness to share her knowledge with others and her ability to not take herself too seriously makes the process of making a quilt that takes you out of your comfort zone less frightening and, in fact, quite enjoyable. Her love of using what others consider scraps to make beautiful usable works of art combined with her awesome grasp of the concept of contrast in her quilts is nothing short of amazing.

Thanks to Bonnie Hunter and Yahoo Groups for making this possible!

Sincerely,

Phyllis Williams aka ladybug7495
