New Jammies...Forbidden Fruit

My latest fun...Forbidden Fruit...lol. The red part of the top is from a shirt that had...ummm...shall we say, gotten a little snug. I am gonna have the best jammie selection in Ohio at the rate I am going:). Am thinkin I am gonna make some short bottoms...for a change. I also found my "elephant leg" jammie bottom pattern...look out world!
Some of you have emailed in order to check up on me. Overall, life is good. Suffering a few minor finacial set-backs but am trusting my heavenly Father, who has never failed to take care of me. My health insurance got re-instated so I have been going to lots of appointments...both doctor and dentist. Now, we all know I would much rather be at home blogging or sewing, but I do what I gotta do:).
Hugs...and have an absolutely wonderful week~

Oh, I do love productive weekends!
This is my favorite dress so far:). The top and the ruffle are from a shirt I had and the bottom is some vintage fabric sent to me. It's all girly!
This shirt is made from Simplicity 2962. I love the collar. The purple is some fabric I had...the other is from a bed sheet:).
I cut the neckline out and the sleeves off of a regular white tee and finished the edges with a cute stitch. Then I reversed the sleeves to make them "raglan". The bottom is more old fabric. This is a summer top.

Update and such!
Some of you have noticed that I have not been blogging at my usual rate. I am having some female issues and finally have been able to schedule a D&C for next Wednesday, the 21st.
I am so grateful to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have decided that hormones are no longer my friend and have declared war. I am tired of crying at the drop of a hat and all of the other fun stuff that comes with hormoneal swings.. My poor kids must think I have finally fallen(or jumped) into the abyss of insanity.
I was peri-menopausal at age 42 and that was six years ago...I am done...mentally, emotionally, physically. When this all began, I was put on hormones because I was battling murderous rages on a daily basis. The hormones were absolutely wonderful! I even had normal months...wow!
Unfortunately, they thickened my blood and caused me to have six full-blown strokes in seven days. I have no obvious signs of having had the strokes, but my health has been one battle after the other ever since. Thanks to a merciful God, at least there will be positive changes after next Wednesday:). All prayers appreciated.
On a much brighter note, my azaela bushes are in full bloom and just gorgeous!
Many hugs to you! Have a wonderful weekend~

FRIDAY:
Fridays Feast:
Appetizer
What is the nearest big city to your home?
Cleveland,OH, is the nearest big city to my home. I rarely go there.
Soup
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
I get a 10 on this one. I value trust highly in any relationship.
Salad
Describe your hair (color, texture, length).
My hair is greying, fine, and barely long enough to put in a short pony tail. It is also naturally curly, and I love that. Just the other day, I asked my daughter if my hair was 50% grey yet...she paused and asked, "Is this where I am supposed to lie to you?"
Main Course
What kind of driver are you? Courteous? Aggressive? Slow?
I am an extremely courteous driver. You never know what is on the other driver's mind and I try to be understanding and courteous at all times. One time, I was having an absolutely horrid day and ended up going the wrong way in the McDonald's parking lot...with all 4 of my kids in the car. They were still pretty young at the time. Well, the fellow who just so happened to be going the right way called me everything but a child of God. I screamed, "God loves you!" back at the man. My Navy Man, who at the time was like 8 or 9, still chuckles about that to this day.
Dessert
When was the last time you had a really bad week?
Due to Arthritis, Fibro and hormonal issues, I have bad weeks frequently. The knowledge that there is a good week on the horizon keeps me going.

Blog Your Blessings
I have been trying different memes since I started blogging. Some are a one-time-deal others are weekly. Since gratitude has been such an amazing force in my life, today I am participating in Blog Your Blessings. Here goes...
God is so good...all the time. I am blessed that He is the One Constant in my life regardless of what mess it is in at the moment. I am blessed that even though I do battle some health issues, I am basically healthy. I am blessed with four wonderful bio-kids and a bunch of heart-adopted ones...and they all love me! I am blessed that God sent Mo along to save me and just in the nick-of-time. I am blessed that my Navy Man is getting married in August to a wonderful young woman. I am blessed that another one of my kids is getting married this summer, also...but we are not telling any juicy details as of yet. I am blessed to not only be in touch with the love-of-my-life but he calls me every day and makes me smile. And...last, but not least, right this very moment I am blessed because the sun just poked out from behind the clouds!

Clothing Reconstruction

I am the kinda person who hates to waste anything. Sometime ago I picked up an outfit(top and skirt) at the thrift store cos it had these gorgeous big plastic buttons on it and buttons printed in the fabric. I love buttons:)! Although I do admit that when I bought it I mostly wanted those plastic buttons, I simply could not toss the outfit in the trash. I was gonna use the fabric to make purse linings. Instead, I decided to make me a house dress. Last night once I started playing around with it, the house dress has morphed into a darling sun dress and shrug! It is so much fun to just play and see what comes out. I cut the top down, trimmed off the neckline, and am working on the sleeves. I am using a darling little seashell stitch to edge everything so there is NO hemming involved. The skirt and bottom of the top are becoming the sun dress which will fall below my knees. And for shoes to complete the ensemble? Why black flip-flops with the other two red buttons sewn onto them, of course!

What Your Flip Flops Say About You

You are a warm, friendly person who simply enjoys life. You don't complicate things for yourself. Life is too short! You have a super optimistic attitude, and you have figured out how to be happy. Everyone wants to know your secret... and it's a lot more simple than they might think. Your ideal warm weather place is San Diego.

THURSDAY:
MyThursday Thirteen brought to you by the letter:
Today is officially the day for the Letter G...however, I am skipping to the Letter J(some of you know why...lol. I will return to our regularly scheduled programming next week:).
Being head-over-heels in love at the age of 48 is wonderful! For the longest time every time I heard a love song that really gripped me it would be a song that I would dedicate to him. Lately, the songs that are gripping me are ones he would dedicate to me. I have never felt like this before and I am loving every second of it. He often asks why I love him and now I have definitive answers. This is another first for me. I have never had an answer to that same question when it was asked by others. This simple fact makes me realize that this is, in fact, the first time I have truly loved some one.
1. I love him because I respect him. Despite physical issues, this man goes to work every day...sometimes 12 hours a day 7 days a week. I also respect the wisdom he has cultivated over the years.
2. I love him because we can and do talk about anything and everything.
3. I love him because he not only listens but he hears what I say.
4. I love him because he is quick to meet any need I express to him.
5. I love him because he is emotionally available to me. Him baring his soft lil under belly to me causes me to be willing to do anything necessary to protect it and cherish his vulnerability.
6. I love him because he makes me laugh.
7. I love him because he cherishes my vulnerability and he would never use it against me.
8. I love him because the second he gets a chance to call me he does.
9. Sometimes to just say, "I love you," and then he hangs up.
10. I love him because he believes in me. His thinking I am Wonder Woman makes me become Wonder Woman.
11. I love him because he appreciates the little things. A simple card sent to him makes him smile.
12. I love him because his loving me inspired him to be a better person. Loving him has inspired me likewise.
13. I love him because loving me is what he does best.

FRIDAY:
Fridays Feast:
Appetizer
When someone smiles at you, do you smile back?
Of course, smiles makes the world go round:).
Soup
Describe the flooring in your home. Do you have carpet, hardwood, vinyl, a mix?
All of the above...but would prefer that my hardwood floors be refinished all over-except the bathroom.
Salad
Write a sentence with only 5 words, but all of the words have to start with the first letter of your first name.
Phyl produces pretty purses purposefully.
Main Course
Do you know anyone whose life has been touched by adoption?
I know several people who have been affected by adoption. For instance, my daughter's honey was adopted in Honduras and is a true blessing in our daily lives.
Dessert
Name 2 blue things.
The sky is a glorious blue today...and I remember how blue to water was at Matthew's Beach:).

Quilter's Eye Candy~

I just entered to win this gorgeous quilt top! If I do win it, I will hang it in my black, red, and brown living room:).
On the first day of every month I get an email from a wonderful lady who actually lives not too far from where I grew up. She reminds me to come see her latest creations and to enter her monthly contest for a FREE QUILT TOP. While any quilt would be a major score to a quilt lover, Linda's contest is different from any I have seen. She lets you pick the top you would like to win from all of the ones she has made. There is an amazing array of choices. Linda loves to piece quilt tops and it is evident after even the smallest peek at her site. Go check out her lovelies! You will be glad that you did. Quilters honor:).

Darling little Quilt Give-A-Way!
Julie is giving away this darling little quilt in honor of her 68th post and/or Spring:). She made too many blocks for the OC Mystery quilt and did what comes naturally to us quilters: She made a quilt out of them. I love this little darling:
Isn't it just delicious? It measures just 14" x 20" inches. To enter in the drawing simply leave a comment at this post on her blog. Good luck~
